Be Prepared This Summer
Written by 3MDR on December 5, 2025
As we enter Summer, it’s now the time to think about being prepared for emergencies in all their shapes and sizes.
We know it can be difficult to find the time and mental space to be proactive about being prepared for emergencies, but it really is essential for all residents and visitors to our broadcast area.
Staying informed of any emergency situations in your area, and surrounds, is absolutely essential, so it’s now time to either download or turn on notifications in the Vic Emergency App:
Ensure you know the ABC frequency for wherever you are, at home or on the road, to stay up to date with any emergency announcements:
Red Cross and ABC have collaborated on a set of super helpful resources, which we recommend you check out and add to your emergency preparedness checklist:

The CFA has a heap of information on the website to help with understanding emergency ratings, fire danger periods and where to go for additional information:

Both Yarra Ranges and Cardinia Councils have emergency information on their websites, with specific local preparedness, relief and response information:

We hope this article helps you find all the information you need to keep yourselves, your animals, your family and friends and your neighbours safe this summer.
