Kaye
Kaye first discovered radio (apart from 3XY in the 1970’s!!!) in 2017 when she retired (the first time) and was looking for volunteer opportunities near her home in Sth Gippsland.
Vision Australia Radio (Warragul) was looking for a Roster Coordinator for the 50+ volunteers reading the local newspapers for the Gippsland community and to assist people with low literacy, English as another language, long-distance drivers, people in more remote areas that don’t get a local paper, as well as people with vision-impairment.
Kaye was appointed, started presenting, and was soon well and truly hooked on radio!
Vision Australia closed Warragul in late 2019 and Kaye had 25 volunteers keen to continue their radio life. Fortunately, 3BBR (Baw Baw Radio) welcomed the team with open arms!
They started broadcasting on 20 Jan 2020 – just as COVID started to raise its ugly head. After only 6 weeks in the studio and a flurry of activity, Kaye and several other members learned how to pre-record shows in their homes to meet the new lockdown rules but continue to provide this valuable service.
Having recently retired (again!) Kaye is delighted to be back behind the panel and letting you know about the fantastic events and happenings in and around the hills, peppered with music from our many varied and talented local musicians. She will present ‘The Hills are Alive’ covering what’s on in and around the hills of the Dandenong Ranges, with co-host Sonia Adgee, starting in 2026.
Kaye is also on the 3MDR Programming Subcommittee
