It is expected that the works will only take a couple of hours and we hope to be back on the 97.1fm frequency with minimal interruption.
This work has come at the request of our landlord at the transmitter site and will benefit 3MDR in two ways. Firstly, 3MDR will no longer be required to switch off the broadcast antenna whenever maintenance work is required on the water tower which happens from time to time. Secondly, 3MDR's signal reach should be improved and will hopefully get into some of the existing black spots within the licence area.
This work does come at a cost of approximately $10000 and 3MDR is most grateful to the Community Broadcasting Foundation for the funding support provided to this project. For more information about what the CBF does for the community broadcasting sector by way of funding support and advocacy please visit their website below.
We will keep you informed as soon as the date for the antenna raising has been confirmed.
