3MDR will be raising the broadcast antenna at the transmitter site on Tuesday 22nd October 2019.
Over the last 18 months 3MDR has been working with Yarra Valley Water to Raise The Mast. This is an occupational health and safety measure for workers at the transmitter site.
3MDR will be off the air for several hours on Tuesday 22nd October from 8am while the communications riggers remove the old antenna mounting and install a longer mast.
3MDR will still be available online at 3mdr.com via the live stream.
3MDR hopes that the raising of the antenna will remove the need to switch off the transmitter whenever works are undertaken by Yarra Valley Water and other telco operators on the tower. It is also hoped that 3MDR's signal will be stronger within some of the black spots within the licence area.
This project comes at a cost of approximately $10000 and 3MDR is most grateful for the funding support provided by the Community Broadcasting Foundation.
