Belgrave Survival Day

From the Belgrave Survival Team:
SUNDAY 3rd MARCH 🖤💛❤️
Thank you all for your patience.
Last year, due to a number of factors, Belgrave Survival Day was held in March.  Ater many discussions it has been decided to continue the conversation and movement around “Changing the date” and that the 26th of January is not a date to celebrate 2024 Belgrave Survival Day is 3rd March 🙏🏾.
Belgrave Survival Day also acknowledges the deep sadness, grief and emotions around the recent Referendum – before, during and now… the after, of the results.
We acknowledge and thank Elders past, present and emerging, the Wurundjeri Land Council, all of our collaborators, Organisational partnerships, supporters, volunteers, musical acts, artists, performers, allies, businesses, local Council, the locals in Belgrave and thank you to you – the Community.
Belgrave Survival Day is over 15 years old, which is an amazing achievement in this space, with the conversations being had, the changes being made, the communities being created but still so much work to be done.
As Allies, this Community and Event have stood proud, strong, respectfully and with determination – side by side with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
We understand that changing the date is disappointing and this Event and movement has been, and is, important.
We strongly encourage our Community to support other events and commemorations being held on January 26th and show them the same steadfast support, loyalty, passion, commitment and energy that you give us.
The 2024 Committee has many new and energetic people to take the Event, the conversation and the commitment to walking in allyship – side by side – with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people forward and be louder, prouder advocates for positive change.
Belgrave Survival Day, Burrinja and our various partners we are excited about our 3rd March event. We cannot wait to see you all there.
