The exhibition will be available to visit on this final day from 10am with festivities kicking off from 1pm. Take a deep dive through more than four decades of community radio history – told by the people who created it. From founding members to current day presenters, hear the stories of the people who built the station and continue to help it thrive. Dig through iconic music posters, rare audio clips, and behind-the-scenes photos that tell the story of how grassroots media actually works.
Explore the interactive components of the space, touch and feel real audio equipment, listen to the podcast, dress up and take some epic photos or simply kick back and ready a rock magazine in our retro lounge.
Continue throughout the afternoon with live music, nibbles and family activities celebrating the proud history of community radio and its role in notable events such as IWD.
3MDR was founded in 1983 after the devastating Ash Wednesday bushfires – with members of the community coming together through adversity. In 1985 3MDR received their full broadcasting licence and ever since, this volunteer-powered station has been championing local artists, community groups, and voices that are underrepresented in mainstream media.
